#LoveDoolin Trail
The #LoveDoolin Trail was invented by Doolin Tourism. The hashtag gives visitors a platform to capture and share the most iconic spots around Doolin. Tag our local Tourism board @DoolinTourism on Social Media with the accompanying hashtag. While there are many iconic places around Doolin, here are some of the highlights:

- Catch a sunset behind Crab Island and discover the Burren Limestone around Doolin Harbour.

Self-guided Doolin Heritage Walk
Take on a captivating journey through the rich history and stunning landscapes of Doolin. The Heritage Trail brings you to 11 historically significant sites across the village:

Self-guided Doolin to Cliffs of Moher Walk

Starting just outside our lodges, this self-guided walk takes you through breathtaking landscapes. Allowing you to experience the natural beauty of this iconic Irish landmark at your own pace.
Safety First: Stay Off the Cliff Edge
While the Doolin Cliff Walk is a relatively easy hike, it’s essential to prioritise safety. Please stay off the cliff edge at all times. The cliffs are steep and unstable, and venturing too close can pose serious risks.
If you prefer a guided experience, consider joining a tour led by a local expert like Pat Sweeney. The tours provide valuable insights into the history, geology, and wildlife of the Cliffs of Moher.

Self-guided Fairies & Mythology Trail
Visit the sites and landscape inspired by JRR Tolkien including Pollnagollum. Discover the Ringforts at Caherconnell and Cahercommaun. Get under the ground at the Doolin Cave.
J.R.R. Tolkien was a renowned English author and philologist. Tolkien was best known for his epic fantasy works, particularly The Lord of the Rings trilogy. His love for languages and mythology led him to create intricate and immersive fictional worlds. The Burren region, with its unique limestone landscapes and ancient monuments, is thought to have influenced Tolkien’s imagination. Our landscapes may have served as inspiration for some of the settings in his Middle-earth universe.
This loop is approx. 95 km of driving and leaves you with plenty time to explore the region. Consider to combine your trip with a sheep dog demonstration at Caherconnel Fort. A google map of the loop can be found here.
The Burren Castle Loop
For castle enthusiasts seeking a unique adventure, the Burren’s Castle Loop offers an unforgettable journey. This circular route allows you to delve into the region’s rich history while exploring its stunning landscapes.
Visit iconic castles like Doonmacfelim, Ballinalacken, and Gleninagh, and discover hidden gems like Leamaneh Castle, Newtown Castle, and Dunguaire Castle. As you traverse the Burren’s dramatic terrain, you’ll encounter ancient ruins, breathtaking vistas, and a fascinating glimpse into Ireland’s past.
